What is Henroid
Henroid is a multimedia project that started back in 2020 when two faggots named Bartholomew and Gabriel met in their Catholic middle school. They started out making animations and music for an online web animation series that Bart partially ran before straying away from it after it went defunct in 2021, and started their own independent project _h_e_n_r_y_, making plunderphonics music and miscellaneous animations up until 2023, when they renamed it to “Henroid.” They briefly went under the name “misery’s bitch” when releasing their first EP “Goat Fucker,” which was a shitgaze album made in response to their expulsion from their middle school after being caught smoking in the bathroom. They would go on to release another EP in 2024 and later release their debut “Only Half Joking” on New Year’s Eve of that year, which was delayed and edited after Bart’s breakup during Thanksgiving. Since then, they’ve released a few more EPs and a mixtape, and are supposedly releasing a new album sometime around September of 2026 (unless they decide to be lazy again).
Who is Henroid
Henroid consists of the duo Gabe and Bart. Gabe is the rhythm guitarist and secondary vocalist, and Bart is the lead guitarist/keyboardist and lead vocalist. They use prerecorded drums, along with a bass/drum sequencer and MIDI bass for the rhythm section.
They often use cartoon personas (because they are very uninteresting) to represent the band, similarly to how Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett do for Gorillaz. The characters come from an old comic strip series Bart made back when he was in 4th grade. Those characters consist of Henry: the poindexter brainiac who tries to remain stern despite the people around him treating him like a freak, and is the lead guitarist and main composer of the band. Goldboy: the dimwitted, arrogant asswipe who likes being the comic relief of the group and spends most of his days smoking and listening to psych rock records; he is the bassist, rhythm guitarist, and lead vocalist of the band; Christine/Tin Tin: the mentally erratic gal whose stage name/nickname comes from the single tuft of hair(?) she has that parallels that of the famous comic book character Tintin. When she’s not following the gang on their misadventures, she spends most of her days drinking and sleeping as one would; she is the drummer and, on rare occasions, plays rhythm guitar.
Inspirations
Their main inspirations when it comes to music are very early CSH albums and Ween’s The Pod and Pure Guava. Their early work was very heavily inspired by the music of Lemon Demon and Logan Whitehurst, among other online indie bands they follow, such as Teen Suicide, Fried By Fluoride, Squee, and Meth Wax.
Their animation inspirations consist of the various works by Max G (HotDiggityDemon) and The Brothers Chaps’ famous web cartoon Homestar Runner, which was initially what drove Bart to start the original Henry comics back when he was about 8 or so.
